STEPS TO HOST A PASSOVER IN YOUR CHURCH
STEP 1 - WHO? - SCHEDULE YOUR PASSOVER WITH THE LISEMBYS. Dr. Reggie Lisemby is a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute’s Jewish and Modern Israel Studies program performing his intern in Nazareth, Israel. Rev. Lisemby weaves Hebrew drama, Hebrew customs, the Hebrew language, and Hebrew songs throughout the Jewish Feast of Passover. The Passover presentation centers around Yeshua, the Lamb of God, and it is potently Messianic, that is, it is all about the Messiah.
STEP 2 - WHEN? - SELECT THE BEST TIME FOR YOUR PASSOVER SEDER. A Seder can be held any time during the year, yet, as a meal of theology and potently Christological, or about the Christ or Messiah, the Seder is an excellent spring Passover/Easter celebration.
STEP 3 - WHERE? - SELECT AN ACCOMMODATING PLACE. You will need a room large enough to accommodate your guests to be seated comfortably at tables. A large fellowship hall or similar will be needed and you may strategically choose to outgrow the church facility and purposefully use a local school cafeteria, civic room, or similar facility that has a kitchen.
STEP 4 - WHAT? - SELECT YOUR OPTIONS. Once you contact the Lisembys and confirm a date, you will want to decide about the dinner/supper. For an exquisite formal evening you may wish to cater the dinner. Or, your church may have a kitchen crew/ committee who can prepare the dinner. The least expensive option which involves everyone who is coming, is to have a 'pot-luck' type dinner. Every family can bring their favorite recipe.
STEP 5 - HOW? - SET UP IS EASY. As we near the event, approximately four weeks prior to the Seder, the Lisembys will contact you to answer any questions you may have, and will guide you through the preparation for the evening. You will select men (one man per table) from your church/congregation to serve tables (typically, elders and deacons are selected). If you have ten tables for dining that evening, you will select ten men to serve. The wives of these selected men will also help by being the 'matriarchs' for the evening and at the appropriate time led by Crystal Lisemby, they will light the candle at their individual table where they are seated.
The Lisembys will help you with the room decor, arrangement for the dining tables, and the purchase of the basic elements for Passover, matzah, parsley, horse radish, apple sauce, and grape juice which can be purchased at any grocery market. The Lisembys will help you with the amount you will need to purchase and how to prepare the basic elements for each table.
THE EVENT! -THE SEDER SUPPER UNFOLDS! This day is exclusively about Yeshua. The room and tables are prepared; the place settings for guests are set, the delicious food is cooked and being warmed, the drink is in decanters, and the basic elements of Pesach are in small bowls on each table. The Lisembys will arrive approximately two hours prior to the Seder and begin setting up their beautiful Israeli Passover display at the head table. The Lisembys will set up their compact sound system, computer and video projector, and they will need a large projection screen (as large as possible) so everyone can see the powerpoint presentation. The Pastor or facilitator welcomes everyone, gives necessary instructions and announcements, introduces the Lisembys, then the Seder begins. Mr. Lisemby introduces his family, introduces the Jewish Passover, and inaugurates the drama of Passover by blowing the shofar or ram’s horn. What follows is a two hour dinner theatre, an evening of Hebrew drama, Hebrew prayers, Hebrew songs, Jewish traditions, the New Covenant correlation of the Old Testament Biblical Passover fulfilled in Yeshua, in concert with a delicious salad, dinner, drink, and desert. During the Seder meal the Lisemby family will serenade the convocation with messianic music, violin, and festive videos.
CONCLUSION - The Seder concludes approximately two hours from its beginning as the children are called to help find the hidden afikomen in a Jewish game of 'hide-and-seek.' We raise our fourth glass of the fruit of the vine and toast, "next year in [the New] Yerushalayim!"
HOST A PASSOVER SEDER AND TASTE THE MESSIAH The Lisembys have been conducting Passover Seder presentations for over 25 years and have never disappointed the expectation of people coming to see Yeshua/Jesus on the table, in the food, in the drink, and in the messianic demonstration of the innocent Lamb of God Who died for the sins of everyone attending. Remuneration for the Lisembys and the Passover Seder presentation is a love offering.
We look forward to scheduling a Messiah in the Passover Seder with you.
